The Scorpion's Sting

"Wait! Please help!! I'm poisoned!"
A fast gush of wind stuck both of my eyes with sand despite having the goggles on. I closed my eyes for a second or two. 1 looked again in that woman's direction.
As my heartbeat plummeted and my head went numb. I realised the woman was an illusion made up by my brain, a mere mirage!

Darkness dominated. As 1 shut my eyes for the last time. jen's smiling face appeared before me...."Until next time. _Jen. I'm sorry...."

I bend down. The sight of a tiny Scorpion running away brought a shocking impulse across my spine. I checked my backpack for meds. I didn't listen to Jen....
A woman in sapphire velvet clothes stared at me from a distance. What was she doing in this insane stormy weather? She waved at me. Beckoned me. Her big wide intimidating blue eyes were magnetising! In fact. it distracted me from the soaring pain in my legs, which were starting to get numb. I followed her. She was moving away from me.
